Biography
Lukas lives in Zürich, Switzerland, and works as a freelance viola and violin player. As an orchestra musician, he performs with the Berner Symphonieorchester, Camerata Zürich, Argovia Philharmonic, Zuger Sinfonietta, and others. He is the principal violist of both the Zürcher Kammerphilharmonie and the Zürcher Symphoniker, and also serves as guest principal violist with the Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden.
His passion for Baroque music has led him to collaborate with ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, Solamente Naturali, Bach Collegium Zürich, and La Cetra. Lukas is also a founding member of the Immortal Quartett, a group that focuses on the classical repertoire, performing on gut strings and using historical tuning.
In addition to the viola and violin, Lukas also performs on the viola d’amore.
In 2015, Lukas founded Violin Studio Zürich, where he teaches violin, viola, and chamber music. He is also the founder and artistic director of Kulturverein Bolero, organizing chamber music concerts throughout Switzerland.
Lukas earned his Bachelor's degree from the Royal College of Music in London and his Master's degree from the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. He has also participated in numerous masterclasses and festivals, further expanding his knowledge of classical, contemporary, and baroque repertoire.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lukas worked intensively as a bike courier in Zürich. Since then, he occasionally rejoins the team at Oepfelchasper, a Swiss company that delivers fresh organic fruits.
In his free time, Lukas enjoys swimming in Lake Zürich, reading literature—particularly the works of Milan Kundera—and riding his mountain bike.
